How to Use TarsierAlpha's Entry Score to Find High-Probability Trades
The Entry Score is TarsierAlpha's composite signal that aggregates every technical and fundamental filter into a single 0–100 number. Here's exactly what it measures, how to interpret each tier, and how to use it as your primary trade decision tool.
What Goes Into the Score
The Entry Score is a weighted composite of:
Technical Signals (70% weight):
- RSI level relative to oversold thresholds (higher weight for more extreme readings)
- MACD crossover status and histogram trend
- Volume vs. 30-day average (120%+ required; higher relative volume = higher score)
- Distance from 52-week high (further below = higher base score for Oversold Bounce)
- Gap analysis (size of unfilled gap, proximity to fill target)
- Price vs. support zones (number of confirmed touches, how close to zone)
Fundamental Filters (20% weight):
- Market cap tier (mega-cap >$100B scores highest for Oversold Bounce quality filter)
- Revenue size and growth trajectory
- Earnings trend (quarter-over-quarter)
Options-Specific Factors (10% weight):
- IV rank (current IV relative to 52-week range — lower IV = better entry, higher score)
- Options chain liquidity (bid-ask spread, volume, open interest)
- Premium cost relative to expected move
The Four Score Tiers
A Tier: 80–100
The highest-conviction setups. All signals aligned, multiple confirmation factors, exceptional risk/reward. These setups receive full position sizing (7–8% of account). They appear in the Top Candidates section with the strongest visual indicator.
Historically, A-tier setups from TarsierAlpha have produced the largest returns — XYZ at +323%, NFLX at +197%.
B Tier: 70–79
Strong setup, good conviction, standard position sizing (5% of account). The majority of actionable trades fall in this range. All criteria are met, some signals are particularly strong.
C Tier: 62–69
Moderate conviction. The setup is valid but not exceptional. Use smaller position sizing (3% of account). Monitor more closely for stop loss triggers. PYPL at entry score 67 fell in this tier — and still returned +212%.
WATCH (Below 62):
Appears in the Watchlist section, not Top Candidates. The setup is developing but not yet ready. Set a price alert, check back daily. Some of the best trades start as WATCH candidates that develop over 3–7 days into B or A tier setups.
The Daily Workflow: Using the Platform
Morning (Pre-Market):
- Open TarsierAlpha → check Top Candidates
- Has anything new appeared above 62?
- Have any existing WATCH candidates moved into the 62+ zone?
- For any active candidate, check the Options Snapshot block (spread, IV, expected move, DTE, liquidity)
Intraday:
- Check the Telegram alert channel — intraday price updates flag when candidates are approaching key technical levels
- If a top candidate is holding its support zone at the open, that's your entry window
Evening:
- Review the closing report — how did active positions perform?
- Check the scanner's new nightly results — fresh setups for tomorrow
- Add promising WATCH candidates to your personal watchlist with price alerts
What the Score Doesn't Tell You
The Entry Score is a starting point, not a conclusion. It tells you the setup is technically ready. It does not tell you:
- Macro environment context: Is the VIX spiking? Is SPY breaking down? Always check macro before entering.
- Earnings proximity: Is there an earnings announcement in the next 7 days? Avoid if so (IV crush risk).
- News events: Has anything fundamental changed about the company that the technical indicators haven't yet reflected?
- Your personal risk capacity: Do you have too many open positions? Is this trade within your position sizing rules?
The score is the algorithm's signal. The final trade decision is yours.
The Non-Negotiable Pre-Trade Checklist
Before executing any trade identified by TarsierAlpha:
- ☐ Entry Score is 62+
- ☐ VIX is not in extreme spike (above 40) unless you're specifically targeting a fear-driven Oversold Bounce
- ☐ No earnings announcement within 7 days
- ☐ Options chain is liquid (bid-ask spread under 10% of premium)
- ☐ Position size is within your 5% account risk rule
- ☐ You have identified your stop loss level before entering
- ☐ You have identified your T1, T2, and maximum targets before entering
Following this checklist on every trade is the difference between using TarsierAlpha as a high-probability edge and using it as a slot machine.
